JFlowers
How hard is it to convert a 625 Mountain Gun in 45 Colt to a moonclipped 45 ACP? Or is it even worth the effort?
HighVelocity
I sent my 45Colt mountain gun's cylinder to Mark at Pinnacle custom guns and had it machined for moonclips and it works perfectly. Gary
20nickels
It's very easy for a qualified smith. Just remove the cylinder and send it in. As far as function, it will work just like the ACP guns however ultimate accuracy in ACP may not be there. Other things worth mentioning; If you leave a step on the outside of the cylinder for the Colt rims to hang on then you have both calibers, also everybody always forgets about .45 Win Mag which would now IMHO be the ultimate cartridge for this gun. This is something that I would like to do. Love them tapered barrels. Nickels.
COF
I'm sending the cylinder for my 25-5 to Pinnacle next week. Cheetah cleaned up the action and installed a ball detent so the only thing left is the cylinder. Off-thread - Gary (Cheetah) and Mike (Carmoney) both do outstanding work on wheelguns. I wouldn't hesitate to send another gun to either of them. Jerry
