Ar Ejector Removal?-any Tricky Details?

The ejector on my AR looks like the pin needs to be driven out from one particular side. I can also see daylight; so it must be a roll pin not a solid pin. But I swear that when I

observed a friend remove his Colt, it was a solid pin.

Mine is probably a Bushmaster bolt.

The military repair manual does not specify pushing the ejector back at all while driving out the pin. Is this the best way, or not?

Who makes quality ejector & extractor springs?

My casing often fails to eject, and becomes horizontally stuck up at 11-o-clock. It clears the extractor.

I've thought about the same thing...then I had visions of my ejector flying into the hinterlands never to be seen again. Why not cut off a 223 case at the base and use it as a block? Put the case stub into the bolt, screw the assembly gently into a padded vice, then drive the pin out. You're going to have to do something like that to put it back together anyway, so you'll need the practice. :)
