Hank Ellis
We had huge media coverage around here as the ship was built just down the road a bit. Throw in the 9/11 and Katrina stories and it made good press. But did anyone notice that during the christening the bottle didn't break on the first throw? In seafaring lore a ship that wasn't properly christened, a champagne bottle that didn't break on the first throw among other things, is considered a bad omen and the ship is unlucky. Hope I'm proved a superstitious fool.
indyshooter
that is very cool. i read somewhere that the steel from the towers went to some japaneese recycling firm. it is a lasting tribute that at least some of it fights on.
