A note on Forum housekeeping in the Hate Section

Over time, we have gotten away from vigilant moderating of the Hate Forum. This has resulted in this forum drifting from it's original intent...and the rules for posting in it.

Over the last few weeks, the moderating team has been looking to address this.

What you are going to (continue) see is a tightening, and a redefining of the boundaries.

Anybody posting here should be reading the rules for posting in the Hate Forum. (They have been updated a bit.)

Just a refresher...if a Hate Rant has anything to do with shooting it will get the axe. Also getting the axe are rants about other members of this forum (or people we know) or their opinions, anything to do with government or government policies, anything that leads to (or likely will lead to) a discussion or debate.

I know that we have some gamers...they will post something on the forum that will likely get locked...but they know that when it gets locked, everybody will look to see what's up. Thus, they get their dig in. From my perspective...that will stop.

If you have a topic that warrant legitimate discussion, it doesn't belong in the Hate Rant section. Find a way (we are all big kids) to talk about it in the appropriate forum...assuming that BE's Forum is the appropriate place for it.

Here is a copy of the Hate Forum rules:

The Hate forum is for rants only - please, no discussions or debates.

Hate threads that turn into discussions or debates will be automatically locked without notice.

General or supportive-related comments are not prohibited; however - rebuttals are specifically prohibited.

If you don't agree with somebody's rant - keep it to yourself.

Add the word "CLOSED" as the last line in your INITIAL post, if you do not want anyone to reply in your thread. A moderator will then lock your thread. (You can also PM a moderator, if you'd like your post locked immediately.)

New Hate Criteria:

Hate rants involving shooters, firearms, or shooting related manufacturers, such as but not limited to - IPSC, IDPA, USPSA, the NRA, or Match Directors - are NOT PERMITTED.

If your hate rant has to do with shooting then it needs to be directed towards yourself.

I'm sorry for this restriction, which may restrict a few reasonable hate rants. Overall, the moderating staff does not feel it's appropriate for the forum's content or well being in general.

NOTE: At a Moderator's discretion, Hate rants may be locked at any time after the initial post.

As posted in the Forum's general guidelines -

The Forum was not created or intended as a place to discuss or debate political issues of any kind - either IPSC, USPSA, or governmental. This includes Hate rants.

Thanks!

Also, if you post a topic/post here in the Hate Section, understand that it may get deleted...and that you may not get a note about it. That is just a logistical thing.

While the moderators can "unapprove" an individual post, if the moderator unapproves the posts in a thread, then tries to leave a final post to let people know what happened...the software seems to treat the whole thread as being unapproved. Thus, no note communicating the action taken.

I think the only way to leave a note of the action taken is to leave up the original post that got the thread locked. That would let the gamers get their dig in...which isn't going to happen on my watch.

I hope to find a work-around, but haven't yet. (And, sending out a PM to each person that posted in the thread is a non-starter...way too time intensive.)

I just deleted a rant on "perfect doubles".

Please read the above.
