Jake Di Vita
Grams would work fine. Although be careful about dropping them on hard surfaces.
ogiebb
will the intl arredondo pads work?
yoshidaex
Wouldn't the 126mm with the international pad fit below the dawson magwell? i have the dawson international pads and use a trimmed down STI magwell for my 126mm magazines. It sticks out just a smidge so i don't end up ramming my palm against the rim of the magwell during mag changes.
ogiebb
the edge of the stock basepads are too wide on the sides thats its hitting the insert of the Ice magwell..
yoshidaex
dremel time?
ogiebb
dremel time? yep that might be the best solution
yoshidaex
let me check how well the dawson intl pads fit in the dawson ice magwell before you start with the dremel action.
yoshidaex
info is for 126mm tubes. not sure on the 120mm tubes since i don;t have one. the dawson intl pad fits the dawson ice magwell but only the butt of the basepad protudes out slightly. The front is literally below the magwell rim. So if you go for a over aggresive mag insertion, your palm will hurt. The smallest grams pad i have (4mm) will not work. The angle of the basepad in relation to the magwell angle is all wrong. Hope this helps.

NK-1124
Does all of this apply for the new style 126mm 10 rd STI mags that have the I-beam like design? Ive been wondering what I could put under them so I can get them into a magwell securely.
yoshidaex
I beam design? can we get a picture. I have a 40 s&w ten rounder where there are indentations in the mag body to limit capacity to 10 rounds. they look the same as my regular capacity mags as to the way the basepads are held in place. NK-1124
Oops, almost forgot about this thread. The new design 126mm mags have a huge rib down the middle of the mag, essentially limiting it to a single column of rounds, but the front and back ends of the mag are the normal width. The rounds run the length of the mag with no stupid indentation to catch a spring on. I beam design? can we get a picture. yoshidaex
the dawson intl pads and the arredondo intl pads should work with the newer style magazine you have.
ap38
I used the Arredondo Pads, but had to dremel the top edges to get them to work.
NK-1124
Thanks for the info, being on a limited budget I didnt wanna spend a bunch of money on a basepad for a gimpmag remnant from my time in california thats only my last ditch mag which might not clear the magwell. Mick
Sandy has a pad design similar to the Dawson except it has a set screw to hold it securely... He doesn't make the old "wedge pad" anymore that I know of...
