Duane Thomas
So, Duane, do you have to break your master grip to drop the mag on a reload? Yes, I do. My match gun is my carry gun, with a slightly extended but otherwise traditional pattern small button. I have small hands, and the move for my thumb is way too much. I do what Merle Edington does: I use my middle finger of my strong hand. I can get onto the release w/o shifting my grip at all. I'm familiar with that technique, and if the combination of your gun and hand shape can make it work, it's slicker 'n snot. Unfortunately my hands/gun don't work that way. tightloop
Why would you cock the pistol or rack the slide to cock it B4 you insert the mag? Insert the mag, rack the pistol, safety on, drop mag into hand, holster pistol, then either insert new mag while pistol is holstered or reacquire pistol from holster and insert new mag. Also I have never had any problems thumb cocking the pistol while dry firing, damaging the sear etc. You shouldn't feel anything different in the trigger pull when you rack the slide vs when you just thumb cock it...
