Para 14.45 Grip Size

In order for this to handle 14 .45ACP rounds, is the grip size significantly bigger than the "standard" 1911 grip?

No, it isn't much bigger if at all when you measure the maximum width. It is more square, that really is the only difference. STI is much the same, very close to the same max dimensions but more square.

I did some quick measurements between my Kimber and Para P16/40.

Grip/frame width just above the magwell was 1.308" for the Kimber and 1.382" for the Para.

Front to back measurements right below the grip safety was 2.005 for the Kimber and 2.091 for the Para.

The Para is definitely square, but I'm not complaining

Take off the grips and run skateboard tape. Then it is slimmest 45 double stack.

If you have a medium toi large hand then the PO wide body frame is not a problem. For people with small hand size it's a bit too wide.

My son can hadle a CZ-75 and Sig 229 or 226 but has difficulty with the PO wide body frames. That's the price one pays for a widebodied 45 ACP.
