EricW
What's the correct method to strip down a Mec Gar singlestack mag? Remove the follower through the top of the mag a la the original 45 mag? Or does the baseplate have some trick way of sliding off? Thanks!
Eager
Baseplate is welded on. Push the follower down with something plastic or wood, then stick a wire or rod through one of the side holes to hold the spring back a bit. The follower can then be removed out the top. Carefully remove the wire and let the spring out. Note the way the guts are configured for re-install. Clean the mag body from the top. I like to swish them in some cheap Isopropyl alcohol I get in big bottle from Wal-Mart. Leaves no residue. Edited October 4, 2006 by Eager
EricW
Thanks! That's what I thought, but there are a lot of funky cuts around the baseplate that make one think that it just *might* slide off somehow.
