trkychsr
My recoil spring needs to be changed so I'll be buying a new recoil spring. Now factory weight for my 1911A1 loaded in 45ACP is 16lbs but looking at this website the trend seems to be to use a lighter spring and shock buffs ( I use this gun for IPSC, not defence ). However in other forums people tend to go to a heavier spring with or without shock buffs. Could someone please explain the theorys' of lighter vs heavier and the advantages/disadvantages of each. As you may guess I am new at this and have only shot a couple of IPSC matches. Thanks trky chsr
3quartertime
There have been lots and lots of threads on this. I did a search and got 157 hits. Should be plenty to read for a while!!! I typed 'recoil spring' and searched all forums keyword in both title and body. It takes forever but thats alot of info. You may want to try 'shock buffs' too. I imagine there would be lots of hits also.
