ljs1911 Posted August 9, 2006 Share Posted August 9, 2006 A friend cleaned my SS barrel with a homemade electrochemical cleaner and after cleaning I noticed pitts in the barrel.The cleaner is a 2 D cell flashlight with a + wire that hooked to the barrel and a - wire that hooked to a steel rod.A solution of 2 parts water,1part ammonia,and 1 part white vinager was used for 45 mins.My ? is could this have pitted my barrel or were the pits always there and I just never saw them?THANKS for any help and replies! HSMITH Posted August 9, 2006 Share Posted August 9, 2006 Yeah, it could have pitted your barrel. Did it? There is no way to ever know. Stop cleaning barrels, start cleaning chambers and shooting. Odds are very good that with a mildly pitted barrel in a handgun you will never notice it, we just can't shoot good enough to find the problem.
