uscbigdawg
Bastards! Couldn't wait like 3 months when I'm home on leave. All kidding aside, I hope that the match goes well. Everyone at Richmond should receive a huge pat on the back for making this happen (I'm guessing to Geoff in no short order). Good luck!!! SPC Richard A. George
Hello All, Updates for the 2006 Bay Area Rifle Championship. Stages are now posted at: http://www.3gunrules.com/documents/match-a...info/2006_BARC/ Given the unending rain we have been having, our weather contingency is to possibly drop the all paper field course (Portal 2 Portal) if it is torrential and move all static shooting positions so that most of the remaining stages can be shot from under our overhangs. The match will still go on no matter the weather, we will adjust during setup if the need is there. High quality chamber flags will be available for purchase at signup for $2.00/each. These are an NRA approved version that is specifically designed for the AR-15, but will work in pretty much any long gun with the bolt open or closed. In fact, these are tough enough to take an AR bolt being slammed closed repeatedly. We will require that the bolt be locked open and a high visibility chamber empty indicator inserted whenever transporting/handling un-bagged long guns at the BARC. Exact round count looks to be 104, but don’t be fooled into thinking that you will get away with only putting that many rounds downrange ;-) Target distances go from just under 2 yards to just under 220 yards. The difficulty level at this match will require you being able to hit 10” targets at just over 200 yards from offhand and semi supported positions, 6” targets from offhand at 50 yards and 3” targets from semi supported positions at 45 yards. We are going to get started on time no matter what it takes so please arrive early enough to be registered by 9am and ready to start shooting immediately after the 9-9:30am stage walk-thru. Registration will be closed the moment the first shot is fired and we expect that to be right at 9:30am. See ya all there,
George
Update: Results are posted at: http://www.3gunrules.com/documents/match-a...hots/2006_BARC/ Congratulations to Rob Romero on trouncing all of the rifle sharks in the San Francisco Bay Area to emerge as the overall 2006 Bay Area Rifle Champion. He worked hard practicing for weeks before the match and earned his win the old fashioned way, with plenty of hard work before the match and a consistent level of performance at the match. Way to go Rob!! The weather stayed under control and even though the day started gray, the sun broke out at noon. We got started within 15 minutes of the intended start time (9:30am) and finished early anyway (2pm). Each squad pitched in and cleared the bay they finished on and we were all on our way home by 3pm with results. I was amazed! The date for the 2007 BARC has been tentatively set for September 23rd (4th Sunday). We are looking at opening things up a bit and rewarding special categories of manual and semi-auto rifles. Lever Action, Bolt Action and Garand would be recognized as sub-categories of the manual and semi-auto divisions and awarded their own prizes if we get 3, or more entrants in each sub-category. The Lever, Bolt and Garand categories will only require one hit on each paper target for complete score so that they will be viable ways to compete in this match, and maybe even be competitive in the overall ;-) Thanks again to all the folks who came out and shot the match for having so much fun while doing it and then pitching in and helping out so much after the shooting was done. Now to start thinking about the shotgun championship everyone is asking for :-)
