sleepercaprice1
I've used surplus 147 FMJ bullets and surplus 4895 powder. There are a number of other surplus powders available if you want to load cheap. Both are available from Hi-Tech Ammo, Jeff Bartlett, River Valley Ordnance and others. Check in the reloading supply section of the Shotgun News. These components will allow you to reload mil quality ammo. If you are looking for true match grade stuff, you'll need to spend more money on your supplies.
n2ipsc
What loads for a M1A or do people here use surplus ammo. If you use surplus...which brand & where??thanks +1 on a little extra dinero for match-grade loads. Sierra's 168gr MatchKing over 41.5gr of 4895 and a Fed 210M is dog nuts in my Fulton Armory .308 Garand...YMMV... Accepted practice in the M1/M1A crowd seems to be not to go any slower than 4064 to avoid excessive port pressures and possibly bent operating rods... None of the surplus I've tried w/147gr pills groups for beans for me...but inexpensive and fun practice & plinking stuff...
