mcb
I'm looking for some chrono data for this load or very similar load using same weight bullet and powder. I will be shooting this load in an XD-40 Tactical (5" barrel). I would love to see some chrono data for n340 loads pushing 180 grain bullets. I'm just trying to get a head start on this so it does not take me as long to home in on a major load for this coming summer. I have been shooting 5.3 grains of N340 with 180 grain Berry's RNFP for a PPC match (not had time to chorono that load) but those are probably not major as there is no PF for this PPC match I am shooting. Any help would be greatly apriciated. Thanks mcb
mcb
Hmmm... is anyone even using N340 in 40 S&W? I will take any N340 data you have chronograph. mcb
Flexmoney
My googling gave some VV book loads... 180 HP Speer 1.126 OAL N340 5.5g = 1,001 fps (starting load) N340 6.0g = 1,091 fps (max) I guess that doesn't tell you if you are making minor though... ----------------- more data : http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:wwsdM...0&hl=en&start=3 Edited January 16, 2006 by Flexmoney
mcb
Thanks Flexmoney, that link had some good data. I think I can figure out a good starting point from all that. Probably start at 5.4 grains and work up from there if needed. I will post the result if I ever get time to take my Chronograph to the range. 38superman
I shoot VV340 with MG 200 gr. bullet at 1.175 oal. 5.4 gr gives around 860 fps With the 180 I would drop back to around 5.0 and work up. If you are shooting copper jacketed bullets they should chrono a little faster than the Montana Gold.
