PhotoRecon
I have a Sig P226 Legion SAO that shoots 4" to the left at 25 yards. Looking for advice on drifting the rear sight without doing any damage. So, heat it up, use penetraiting oil, buy an expensive sight pusher or what? Nearest gunsmith is 120 miles away.
MikeBurgess
Brass or aluminum punch, heat the sight up with a heat gun to about 300 degrees to kill any locktite loosen the set screw if it has one, hold the slide in a vise (pad the jaws so you don't mess up the finish drive rer sight in the direction you want to move the bullet impact, not sure what the sight radius is on a 226 but likely need to move sight about .025" for that correction. all that said, are you 100% sure its the gun? do other good shooters get the same impact error you are? is the sight currently visibly off center to the left? PhotoRecon
Thanks for the info. 2 of my 3 Sigs shoot to the left. One I put a green dot on instead of messing with it. The 226 isn't optic ready so I'll have to adjust it. I always assume it's me when things are off but we've verified it's off. The sights look good in the current position.
