Precision40
I have an STI which appears to have some sort of baked on finish. I tried rust-removal gel and B12 carburator cleaner with no results. Has anyone found any chemicals which takes this type of finish off down to bare metal? RIIID
It has to be taken off with a blasting media. The finishes that are thermal set are chemical resistent. Rich
Carlos
I would suggest a very fine grade of glass bead & try to limit the amount of blasting done to bearing surfaces.
AlamoShooter
If you are going to have it refinished, the plater will do the prep of removing the old finish. Is it a crome finish? and is the Frame and Slide have the same finish? If you remove the plateing it will efect the Slide to frame "fit". ONE Real Good Rule is = If It Is not broken don't fix it. I know this becuse I allways get reminded of it.
