Henning Magazine Extension Issue

I recently purchased the Henning +5/6 Basepads and Grams Spring with Followers for my Mec-Gar 17-round mags.

 

Is there a trick to keeping the mag extension locking pin / retaining pin in place?

 

The mag extensions kept coming loose and would not stay locked in place, especially when loading with an Uplula. It was happening to all 3 mags (see pic).

I had the same exact problem. Hold the magazine like a hammer and give the baseplate good smack on a relatively soft but firm surface (e.g. carpeted floor, palm of your hand) with the retaining pin facing up. It should pop out another millimeter

Put a small amount of lube on it.

Been using these for years with zero issues.

 

Also the CZ P01 with the lanyard loop will push it open, especially when reloading in a match.

 

The only solution is to either file it off or replace the hammer spring

Had the same issue. Call or email Henning, awesome guy. I emailed him with the issue and he called me 15 mins later and walked me through what to do. Basically what a previous poster said, to just hit it. That pin is just barely not far enough over the mag.
