My question regards single stack mag and my springfield GI .45. I want to get chip mccormic 8rnd mags for idpa (i plan to start competing soon) and i want to know if these mags will fit my magwell. Ive bought mags that were too fat for my magwell. this is why im asking. Also, are there any comparable mags of the same quality that you would recommend? another question, is my springfield considered a "government" size as opposed to an "officers" size? i assume so. GuildSF4 Posted September 10, 2005 Share Posted September 10, 2005 Welcome to the forum. Most 8 round mags will fit your mag well with no issues. (The magazine base pad is where most of the issues are with mags not fitting.) Recommended mags are Chip McCormick Power mags, Wilson and Brown. I know there are others that people will recommend I haven't tried all brands, these are just the ones that have worked best for me. (10 round mags may require fitting the base pad, Wilson 10 rounder should fit OK, don't believe they are legal in IDPA though.)
