We gave that a tried over the weekend. Quite entertaining. 00 buck at 30 yards doesn't produce a big pattern especially with 9 pellets. Pretty hard to get a strike, best anyone did was leave 1 pin standing. Bird shot will knock some pins down, but be prepared for to receive a nice shower of lead. A lot of the 7 1/2's came flying back.

Yeah, we don't shoot shotguns at bowling pins anymore for the bounceback reason. Shot happens! ;-)

B4 they shut down Deep Creek Rifle & Revolver club near Frederick, MD, we used to shoot pins with both shotguns (10 yards) and centerfire rifles @ 50. At 10 yards, 00 buck rarely knocked over more than 1 pin; sometimes we used slugs but they were capable of decapitating a pin hit in the thin section. Those were the days.

Those kind of people would probably try to shut down a military airbase after they move into the neighborhood. Then bitch about the military closing down the base and losing business.

The 00 buck seem to work okay at 30 yards. Maybe at 40-50 yards there might be a better chance of getting a strike. IC or Mod chokes were definitely too tight at 30 yards.

None the less, it's still pretty entertaining to try to knock down 10 pins with 9 pellets.
