kurtm
After spending lots of time on the eastern plains of Colorado shooting Prairie Doge out to 5 and 6 hundred yards with 55 grain Blitzkings under all sorts of conditions with the AR platform I can honestly say that if you guess the wind right...which isn't that hard to do....and you make a good press on the trigger you will almost always be rewarded with a hit, if not it is within mere inches. You may not know this but a Prairie Dog is a much smaller target than a flash target. I just don't get the need for heavy bullets. I think that the reason folks gravitate to them is they just don't spend as much time behind the rifle and are looking for all the help they can get. After a few days of shooting at small targets out on the plains you will get to intrinsically know how much to hold off/and/or over to make some amazing shots. Familiarity with the platform far exceeds the need for magical bullets.
