Harmon
Loaded many thousands of rounds with the press set exactly the same way, it hasnt changed.. IM not shaving lead, merely the coating on the bullet.. there is plenty of flare on the case mouth and i have even went as far as to chamfering the casemouths...to no avail.. the bear creeks and masterblaster bullets dont do this, hell the old precisions dont do it either. I suspect the root of the problem is the new bullets are swaged, and in that process some form of oil or lubricant is placed on the core before its formed.. Im guessing Dave somehow washes the stuff off before he coats them.. Its also a guess that he didnt get all the residue off the bullets before coating them. it also seems the newer bullets leave more lead residue in the barrel than older bullets/masterblaster/bear creek. the thing that really made me pay close attention to this was when my load lost 100 fps by switching to the precisions.. I have a case of masterblaster bullets coming...im gonna stick with them for a while.

Harmon
a batch of federal nickle brass is to blame, burr inside the case neck ripped the coating off them. funny thing is the bear creek bullets never had an issue with it. i think the precisions coat is a little thinner.
