Tanfoglio breakage?

Cliff, this is from a 3 months old stock2, a newer gun with shorter barrel

Any idea what might have caused that?

I'm guessing a stress crack at the discontinuity (step) in the barrel profile that occurred in heat treatment. Maybe?

Thats exactly what I'm thinking.

They break on 1911's too, but the design is a litle different on Tanfoglios. What I did experience though after tons of 10mm rounds is my stop would partially pop out. I had to take a file and "V" the groove where the spring lays in it deeper. That has solved this problem to this day and still the original stop that looks new.
