eringobragh
I have my IDPA load all set just right...using 4.3gr of WST, 230gr LRN bullets, and CCI primers. My question is this...the local gunshop is out of Large Pistol Primers, and only has Large Magnum Pistol Primers left in stock. What would/could happen if I loaded up with these? It's a really mild load as is...pushing around 730fps with a Power Factor around 167...would pressures raise that dramatically? Could the primers bulge? Will I get a more thorough/cleaner burn? Thanks in advance for any advice!
BrianH
Maybe just problems going off. Those are meant for high pressure stuff like .44 mag.
.40AET
Use 'em if you need to. I got a 30fps increase with small pistol magnums in a .40. You have lots of room in your load if a rise in velocity occurs. If you want to keep the same PF, you might want to chrono the first small batch and adjust accordingly. Some folks claim that there is no difference. If you were riding the edge of a max load then I would NOT change the primers. Could the primers bulge? NO WAY Will I get a more thorough/cleaner burn?
