Patrick Sweeney
If it is a Colt commercial .38 Super, 1949. If it is a parts gun with a Colt Super slide on it, the date for that frame would be 1914. So, is it a 1911 or 1911A1 frame? And what do you plan to do with a soft old Super that can't be built into a racegun? I'll give you $50 for it! gm iprod
Assuming Colt manufacture? If the frame was made 1914 then it is a 1911 not an A1. The 38Super was not introduced until 1929, therefore it should be in a 1911A1 frame. So I go with the 1949 Colt commercial. It could have been a 38Auto pistol modified and restamped, these were made from 1902. The 38Auto or 38ACP was made up to 1929 when the Super came out. Many 1911 an 1911A1 pistols would have been chambered in 38Auto so the modification could have been made, but I doubt it. Unless its the 1949 era pistol ( figuring they started renumbering from 1 when they made the 38Super) the pistol is a mongrel. $51???? US or would $52NZ cover it.
