StealthyBlagga
On Sunday May 31st Rio Salado Sportsman's Club 3-Gun division will be hosting a special RIFLE/PISTOL match (no shotgun required). There will be four practical scenario-type stages, all located on the pistol bays. The maximum distance will be ~60 yards, so most of the shooting will be close and fast, but we will manage to squeeze in a few challenging shots. The match will be run under standard IMA-SMM3G time-plus scoring & conduct rules, but without the restrictions of equipment divisions. Just about any centerfire semi-auto rifle and pistol (+ safe/secure holster) will be OK. Everyone will shoot in the same division. Stages will be straight-forward and as equipment-neutral as we can make them. This will be the perfect match for new shooters to try their hand at tactical rifle/pistol competitive shooting - Just Run What Ya Brung! We don't get to run these special matches too often, so if you are interested in this kind of shooting I recommend you make time to attend this one. Registration will be on the day, 7:00-8:30am - just turn up and shoot. First shots will be at 7am. Match fee will be $15 for members, $17 for non-members. Round count will be ~100 rifle + ~100pistol. Questions? Post them here or send me an IM/EM. We look forward to seeing all our regulars and some new faces - this match will be a blast !!! bishop414
Any chance of just Pistol carbine and not needing a pistol?
StealthyBlagga
Nope - there will be close-range steel that will not be safe to shoot with regular rifle calibers, and we don't want to have to enforce distinctions of what is safe/unsafe based on caliber. You can certainly run a PCC and pistol if you wish, so long as you engage the appropriate target with the appropriate gun. Competitor feedback was very positive on the match format, so we hope to replicate this success as future dates open up. Results are posted online HERE.
