Following a 13-day defense by a small number of Texans, the Mexicans captured the Alamo, which became for Texans a symbol of heroic resistance
carinab
When visiting the Alamo, I saw a Texas Ranger (the LEO type not a ballplayer) with a special badge. It read Alamo Ranger. I asked him about it and apparently it is akin to being an honor guard in the armed service. Like guarding the tomb of the unknown soldier, this Ranger took his duty very seriously. He said only those with distinguished records are given the special priviledge to be an Alamo Ranger. If there is Holy Ground in the state of Texas, the Alamo would be it.
