+2 extention for V-max comp install (help a rookie)

Just got my Versamax shotgun and have been learing the manual of arms and getting comfortable

It came with a +2 extention and I know this is silly but the manual says nothing about installing.

I'm assuming you just pull the end cap and pry off the "retainer" and install the extention w/o anything else? As in the spring will rest inside the extention tube?

Is there a trick to getting the retainer out? I tried to lightly pry it out but it's pretty soft and I don't want to gall it if I need it in the future.

Yes extension just screws on the one piece 8 round tube but first you do have to remove the retainer. I do it by prying on alternating sides until I van get a pair of pliers on it to squeeze it and remove it the eest of the way. Be careful and wear your safety glasses there is alot of spring pressure under there.

The end cap on my VM Tactical is screwed on. I think the VM Comp is the same.

If it is tight try ussing a strap wrench to hold the tube.

Yea the comp is screw on as well, but there is a pot metal retainer under it.

Thanks Iowa shooter, I figured that was the case
