pmd
Any advice or special tricks for doing a S&W 617 22lr revolver trigger job? Looking for a smooooth, reliable, light trigger - is it possible? Thanks! Paul
Carmoney
Well, with rimfire .22s, "smooooth" is no problem, but you can't really put "light" and "reliable" together in the same gun. Plan on about 8 or 9 pounds. On my 617, the C&S extended firing pin did help somewhat. Mike
underlug
You cannot use a lighter or more severly bent mainspring as you are limited by the variance in, and nature of, the priming in .22 ammunition. The smoothing out processes are the same as the larger calibers (see the Miculek video). The .22 has the frame mounted firing pin which some say also require more main spring force. Actually, because .22s get shot a lot because of the price of ammunition, they pretty much will reach their optimun level on their own in fairly short order. The smoothing out process in a trigger job basically simulates wear.
