38 Short Colt , 147gr Bayou, Clay Dot powder

I've had the 627 for a week or so and I'm getting ready for ICORE with it etc

It was used and not much wear on it. It's a Pro series, trigger is heavy but smooth, so gonna start with a spring kit and go from there.

Shot it last week Wednesday only 32 round before the local USPSA club match.

Today I shot it in the cold and snow at 25 yds, It shot a 2" group slow fire and at speed was able to keep them all in the A ring with many in the X with the exception of the shots I called out.

Very happy so far

Load:

38 Short Colt Starline brass (New)

WSP ( I know use Federals )

2.9 grs of Clay Dot

147 gr Bayou (9mm bullets that mic .357)

COL 1.150

PF 126

I also shot a bunch of 38 spl. with 160 Bayou's at .358. They shot about the same size group. There was no evidence of any tumbling with either load.

Shot a bunch at 50 yds!!!! I need some serious practice for the ICORE near and far. Kept them all in the C and 2 on the D but at least on paper.

Hope this is a help for new 38 Short Colt shooters

Thanks Doug

Don't plan on going any higher and if I do I'll switch to another powder.

Used the Clay Dot because I recently acquired 8 lbs and I'm trying it out in different guns to see how it runs etc

BTW extraction was nice, turn the gun upside down and they fall out.
