rack&roll Posted January 17, 2015 Share Posted January 17, 2015 Some of you older 1911 guys will probably know what I'm talking about. Are the "lowered' Gunsite single sided thumb safeties legal in USPSA single stack division? I have one and love it, and I see it no more as an advantage than any other "legal" modification that is allowed, such as: upswept memory groove grip safety, extended mag catches and buttons and paddles, huge gaping magwells...etc...etc...etc. I have short fingers (and thumbs) and when I use this (lowered) thumb safety I can actuate the grip safety without disabling it. The high thumb shooting position is so much easier, too. I look at this as not an advantage, but a playing field leveler for those of us with freakishly short fingers and small hands.
