trigger problem

Good day gents. I installed by myself an sti trigger in my 2011. Heres the deal.

I loaded the mag, racked the slide, and pulled the trigger. Hammer drops no bang. Cocked hammer and fired still no bang.did it a dozen times. So i tried manually cocking the hammer while trigger is pressed and i found out the sear is contacting the hammer as the hammer falls. Bumps on the hammer hooks then the half cock notch. very puzzling. But when i removed my magazine, hammer falls smoothly no contact with sear tip. Next i tried was the pencil test. With magazine inserted the pencil did not leave the barrel however upon removing the magazine the pencil flew about 2 feet. Tried witb other mags too same result. Im guessing the front area of the trigger bow is somehow being stopped by the inserted magazine. Gun has zero over travel.

So question is what do you pros think?

By the way im going to my smith soon ive tinkered and filed enough i know when to stop LOL

I think that you're chasing the right problem, but I would have your 'smith touch up the sear nose with a stone. If you've dropped the half-cock notch onto the sear nose more than a few times, it's probably banged the heck out of it.

Any time you're working on a trigger, you should first check for half-cock clearance while escorting the hammer down with your thumb. That way, interference will be detected before it is seen "dynamically".

I would look into the magwell to see if there is any instrusion in it by the trigger bow. Something HAS to be hitting the inserted magazine.

Thanks. I just checked the magazine now after dry firing about a hundred times. The trigger bow has clearly left a mark at the front of the magazine. The mark is full contact, a perfect pair of 2 horizontal lines across the front of the magazine. I think i got a lemon trigger.... previous trigger worked fine.
