66L
Out of curiosity, would a 625-6 (.45 Long Colt) barrel have any issues being fitted and working on a 625-8 (.45 ACP) revolver?
PatJones
The .45 ACP cylinder is shorter. The Colt barrel wouldn't be long enough for the forcing cone to meet up with the front of the shorter cylinder.
Carmoney
You absolutely can fit a .45 Colt barrel to a .45 ACP gun if you're prepared to face down the shoulder to fit the barrel, and shorten the extractor. It's not a terribly difficult project if you have the tools. I installed an 8-3/8" barrel from a Model 25-5 on one of my 25-2s. I discovered it was a little heavier than I wanted, so I reinstalled the original 6-1/2" barrel. I gave the long barrel to Bob Perdue and he experimented with it on one of his revolvers. PatJones
Did you use the latch at the front of the shortened ejector rod out did you fit a ball detent to the yoke?
Carmoney
I just used the stock front latch with the shortened extractor and center pin. I'm not really convinced the yoke balls really do a whole lot. Then again, I'm not convinced the front latch really does much either.
