JimInFL
Hope I'm in the right forum. Posting for a friend who recently received this, passed down from his father. He'd sent the photo to me, wanting to know if I had any info on it. Not a revolver guy myself - was hoping someone might shed some info on model, type, history, value, anything really. Thanks. Carmoney
Somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like a early-series Colt Police Positive Special, chambered in .38 Special, with 4" barrel. These are built on the Colt D-frame, and pre-dated the Detective Specials and alloy snubbies that followed. They were common police duty revolvers, and are excellent guns for those with smaller hands. Although all Colt revolvers have jumped in value over the past couple years, this one has fairly severe condition issues that are going to prevent it from being worth more than a couple hundred bucks.
