Blujay291
Hi guys, I'm not sure if this is the right place for this but here goes. I just finished fitting a slide on my open gun I'm going to run 500 rounds in the white??? This is ok right. ???. Then refinish it. The frame is hard chromed but scratched pretty bad so I'm considering finishing the whole deal, my question is, who if anyone good doing firearms finishes like hard chrome,DLC, and the like in south florida, southwest Florida prefferably. If you know of anyone may I please have the details and contact info thanks! And I originally posted this in gunsmithing but got no replies, so again I appologize if this is not the right place! Amerflyer48
in the white is about as protected from wear as blued so as long as you are lubed up you are ok as far as wear is concerned just keep a light film on the white metal to avoid a flash rusting situation my 10mm was in the white most of its life and is fine, finally just cold blued it cause I could and wasn't using it as often and figured a cold blue is better against rust long term John

Ford's Custom Gun Refinishing did hard chrome on 1 of my Open guns, great quality & highly recommended, they are west of Wildwood & north of Tampa Edited July 13, 2013 by hvsmith
gunracer38
I have been using Metaloy for many years. All my Open guns are hard chromed by Chris of Metaloy. This hard chroming has never affected the performance of the pistols. But I never hard chrome the extractor. I usually just chrome the barrel, slide and frame. Blujay291
Thanks guys I've looked into fords and metaloy and it looks like they both offer a great finish, metaloy offers a rush 72 hour turnaround Wich I do like since I only own this one gun.
