If you will settle for simple, cheap and easy to handle try this:

Bianchi Barricade

PVC materials list:

4@ 8’, ½” PVC pipe

6@ ½” Elbows

2@ ½” T’s

PVC glue

Cut 2 of the 8’ section of pipe into 8 pieces each 1’ 11” long. I will call these the “short” pieces

Cut 2 of the 8’ sections down to 6’.

Don’t glue the pieces until you get everything assembled correctly.

Assemble the base (visualize a rectangular box) using the “T” (pointed up) as the center of the long leg. Put one of your short pieces on each side of the “T”. Put an “L” on the ends of each horizontal pipe, then complete the box by joining the two sides with two more short pieces of pipe.

You now should have a 2’ X 4’ ID rectangular pipe box with the center of the “T” pointed skyward on each long side. Put one of the 6’ pipe sections on each side with an “L” at the top. Join the “L’s” at the top with another short piece of pipe.

You can make a really lightweight barricade by using sheet plastic taped to the PVC frame. I have also used a 2’X 6’ piece of ¼” ply held on with wire ties. Because these are light, they need some sandbagging or nailing to keep them in place when the wind gets up.

These are almost indestructible and easy to manage. Storage is made simpler if you don’t glue the vertical uprights into the “T”. That way you can take the thing apart and stack them. You can make these out of smaller or larger pipe as you wish. Bigger fittings always cost more.
