Garrett
I don't get too hung up on "silencer" versus "suppressor". I use the terms interchangably, along with "can". Silencer, suppressor, can, un-loudenator. They all work. I like to use on... just because I can. I'm not always competitive. So I might as well get to use some of my toys. ben b.
I used a can on my AR in a match a few weeks ago, and one more time at a carbine night match, It's fine; doesn't really add to the fun.
KentG
I have seen a few on ARs. Trust me the timer has no problem picking them up. I really want one but bottem line is a can really doesnt suppress a 223 as much as I hoped. Not worth the $$. Unless $$ is no object. I know they are legal in IMG style rules in open. I may get a AAC SR-5 if I can scrape up the money. I have a integral .22 and its hollywood quiet like most of the rimfire stuff thats well made. Timers dont work and I wont use mine again just to not be a pain in the ass to the RO. Edited December 5, 2012 by Kent Grewe
