Youngeyes
I've never reloaded rifle. I'm so used to straight wall pistol that I don't get why some say you don't crimp rifle. Please help me understand. Preferably in small, easy words that I can comprehend. I have remington brass and 168 GR A-Max bullets with IMR 4064. I load on a 550b. Any other tips for the Garand are also appreciated. Edited September 11, 2012 by Youngeyes
Cotys
Mostly I crimp for auto loaders where I worry about the bullet being set back. You will probably get a 100 different opinions. Some say crimping impacts accuracy, some say not so much. I expect like many things, it may depend on what your rifle likes. You could try some for accuracy with and without crimp. I've never loaded for my Garand, I would probably crimp like I do for other auto loaders.
427Cobra
Crimp, its cheap insurance, and it only takes one FUBAR to ruin your day, I highly recommend a Lee Factory Crimp Die for rifles.
