Toolguy Posted February 17, 2012 Share Posted February 17, 2012 Yes they are staked. You just unscrew the nut off over the flare. If the stake is light, you can screw the nut back on. If the stake is heavy, you have to chase the threads with a tap (for the nut) and die (for the screw). Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
gr7070 Posted February 18, 2012 Author Share Posted February 18, 2012 If I understand correctly, you're only dealing with the front sight. I've created a long and meandering thread. I've got two guns I'm fiddling with. The 617 I'm changing the front sight and swapping out the rear blade as the SDM sight is too tall. rich636 Posted February 18, 2012 Share Posted February 18, 2012 I just switched out my front sight using a 1/16" brass punch. It was very soft and sheared itself to fit as I tapped it in and drove the pin partially out. Then to finish pushing it out I used a thumbtack, luckily they are a perfect fit for that hole.
