Anybody use Sierra Gameking/Blitzking 55's?

Recommended Posts

The BlitzKing is supposed to have a BC of around .271 when > 3100 fps and the GameKing is .272 when >3000 fps.

These 55's @ 3100 fps have the same drift as 69 SMK's @ 2790 fps -- ~11.2"@300 yards with 10mph winds at a 90 degree angle. Due to the velocity the 55's are flatter and are cheaper (at least the GameKing is) than the 69 SMK's.

Is the ballistics projection BS?

Anybody use the 55 grain Sierra Gamekings or Blitzkings in their AR's? How accurate were they?

I have used the 55 gr HPBT gamekings in my AR. I have a 24" barrel with a 1/9 twist and have loaded them with 26 grs of W748. I shoot 5 shot groups under an inch at 100 yards with that load. I have at least 15 more loads worked up that need tested with different bullets and powders to see what my rifle likes. Those gamekings were cheaper and they seem to be shooting pretty good out of my rifle.

This is the BC of that bullet I shoot as listed on the Sierra web page.

.185 @ 2800 fps and above

.189 between 2800 and 1800 fps

.193 @ 1800 fps and below

I had good luck with the Blitzking, 20 round groups near an inch at 100.

I ran them over H335, Win. primers.

The Blitz and the Blitzking are different bullets, just in case you find some marked as such.

Dunno about the ballistics thing, never shot them past 200 yards...

Item 1355 FMJBT GameKing's BC's are:

.272 @ 3000 fps and above

.245 between 3000 and 2400 fps

.235 @ 2400 fps and below

If you guys were both getting near or under MOA that should be good enough for 3-gun.
