thefiremeister
I'm looking at a new upper and am trying to decide on a barrel with an A2 front sight or a barrel with no front sight. My thought was to get a red dot and co witness the dot and the front sight to keep things simple but then I got to over thinking things and was looking at a 1x4 scope and have that co witnessed with the front sight. Has any one tried, successfully, co witnessing a scope ( like a Vortex PST ) and a A2 front sight? I plan on using it for 3 gun and shooting out to 600 yards every once in a while
shooter545
I think that you are going to find that the fixed front sight will take up a good portion of your scope at 6 o'clock and it will be out of focus. At 4X you may only see a small portion of it but again it will be out of focus and in your sight picture. If it were a red dot sight no big deal, lots of folks run co-witness irons and red dots. I'm big on iron sights and love the optics that we are running in 3 gun. I use folding sights quite a bit. Hope that helps, good luck and good shooting!
