  1. Thanks, i did see that but it does not list the bushnell or the Delta Point pro. I tried calling t Bushnell twice and got cut off both time after a 15 and 20 minute wait.
  2. I bought a Bushnell RSX Red Dot. It has a Delta Point Pro foot print. Are there any other red dots that fit this foot print? i would think there would be a chart for compatibility. if there is I can't find any thing on for the Delta Point Pro.
  3. So I take it no one is ranging with one of these things. I wish I had been able to follow up on that because its never made any sense but has always pops up and is has been a question un answered. its been bugging me. Now not so much Thanks
  4. Thats how I see it but I was looking to see if anybody had a different take on it.
  5. Is there an advatage to using the 4 moa instead of a 2 moa dot for range estimation and holdovers? Like on an Aim point. I was told by an instructor once that a 4 moa dot was better but never got a chance to follow to up on why and how you would use it. To me it seems like the bigger dot would cover more of a target that a smaller dot and would be harder to work with unless you held the dot off to the side for estimations and then put the dot back on target. Anyone using a 4 moa dot for any kind of estimation?
  6. I'm looking at a new upper and am trying to decide on a barrel with an A2 front sight or a barrel with no front sight. My thought was to get a red dot and co witness the dot and the front sight to keep things simple but then I got to over thinking things and was looking at a 1x4 scope and have that co witnessed with the front sight. Has any one tried, successfully, co witnessing a scope ( like a Vortex PST ) and a A2 front sight? I plan on using it for 3 gun and shooting out to 600 yards every once in a while
  7. Yes there is some logic that can be applied. If the shooter always hits a 6:00 then the sights need to be adjusted. If it is intermittant then the shooter is pulling the trigger too hard and it would be more of a 7:30. A flinch, that anticipation of big bang and recoil is at 2:00. I know when I start to shoot low at 0600 I initially start blaming the gun. Then I go off to the side and shoot it to print it and find out its really me again. I like to blame the gun first because it makes me look bad when It's my technique. I was looking for the chart as a quick reference to help some new shooters at the range.
  8. Thanks Corey. Thats what I'm looking for. I know this is not the ultimate diagnostic tool but its another tool in the tool box.
  9. I hear there is a method of knowing whats wrong with your shooting by where your bullets hit. Example: If your bullet hole is at 6:00 does that mean you pushing down on the gun as you pull the trigger? anticipating the recoil. what about POI to the left or right? All this is assuming the gun and the operator can normally hit what they are shooting at when printing the gun.
  10. I have a P16 ( 2 actually ) and had nothing but trouble with the power extractor. I had sent the gun back to them and they reworked the extractor. Over worked it actually. I talked with them a number of times about the extraction issues and getting double feeds. They keep wanting me to send the gun back. I knew it was he extractor so I bought a new one and installed it my self. Problem fixed. I did send the old one back and they replaced it. The problem is the extractor has so much slop in the arm and hole that it can slide off the top of the round if its gets worn or dirty. Good Idea but a bad design. Next time I'll float a loan and buy a better gun.
  11. I'm using bird cage bedding and reptile bedding ( crushed walnut ) to clean my brass. The reptile bedding seems to be slightly larger than the bird stuff but they both work OK and it is cheaper than store bought stuff. Only problem I have is when I'm done cleaning the brass, the walnut and the brass are both kinda dusty. I've been using my air compressor to blow the dust off but I was wondering what is put in the real cleaning media to keep the dust down? I've had a few ideas or thoughts on what I could add to the reptile ( walnut ) bedding to keep the dust down and shine the brass a little more but I was hoping some one here has already tried this.
  12. I chrono the heck out my loads as I build them. I can't afford a new gun just yet. I don't think I'll have an ice chest full of ammo but thats not a bad idea. Shoot some, shoot some more and have a nice cold beer ready when I'm done. I still think thats kinda strange and hard to figure that if your ammo gets hot it goes slower. That could be an the answer to a discussion I was having with a friend ( while we were getting Chronoed at area one) about people not making their PF
  13. I've heard that before. Exactly when do things start reversing?? I'm in Northern Nevada and it can get pretty darn cold out here.
  14. Hodgdon data has an OAL of 1.125. listed on their web site. I didn't look at that before. I know people around here are shooting the Titegroup too. I just got to be a little different I guess. I'm sure I will eventually try a few loads with the titegroup but I'm still trying to narrow it down one or two powders. I still have a pound of the AA#5 I have to go through and I'm not looking forward to that.
  15. Thanks for the info. I was looking at the Hodgdon site and they show a max load of 4.3 gns of WST behind a 180 gn HDY XTP with a velocity of 888. That would not get me the power factor I'm looking for. After working up my loads with the AA#5 I don't have a lot of faith in some of the published data.
  16. I'm currently shooting Montana golds with AA#5. I can make major using that combo but I have to use 7.1 gns of powder and its really dirty. I don't think all the power is being burnt and its gummin up my Para so I'm looking for a new load. For some reason I have a bug up my butt to use WST or AutoComp but I've noticed most folks use something other that WST or Autocomp. I'm not yet smart enough to go with the flow and try Titegroup, Clays or Solo. so the big question is: Is any one currently using WST or Autocomp in a 40 S&W to push 180 gn bullet? ( lead or jacketed) Has anyone tried those powders and decided they didn't like them? Why not?
  17. Same problem. I have to have glasses to read and can't see my front sight with out glasses. I went and had some single vision sunglasses made up with my reading prescription. So far it works great. it only takes a few minutes to get used to the new glasses. I can see my front sight and the glasses help me find the sights faster because the sights are the only thing in focus now. The targets are a little blurry but not bad. Their suppose to be blurry anyway right? Try single vision reading in both lenses. Its great.
  18. I'll look at my data again. I was only shooting 6 rounds at a time while I was trying to work up some loads for major. My brass was mixed but most of it was speer that had been shot out of my gun. I'm using 7.2 grns of Accurate # 5 right now with MG 180 gn bullets. I was getting a PF of 167 with that load. I had figured my spread was wide and I'll have to work on that. Your points are good ones. I was short cutting things a little by using mixed brass. I know better but was trying to get out while the weather held. I must have saved maybe 5 min.
  19. What is the extreme ( velocity ) spread your getting with your favorite loads? I got 61 spread and a 81 spread today. I checked some factory ammo and it was about a 40 fps difference from low to high.
  20. I just chronoed the same load using two different lots and did get a slight difference in fps. about 20 fps higher with the newer lot. www.uniongunrights.com
  21. Thanks for the info. I'm working on some loads right now and I'm getting an average of 167 from 6 rounds. My spread is about 55fps with once shot brass. I'll have to bump it up a bit. Thanks again.
  22. How many rounds do you get to shoot when you chrono your ammo at a match? I've just shot local matches and we have not chronoed our ammo at our matches. I'm thinking about going to a regional match and need to know how many shots it takes to get your ammo to pass. I'm assuming a number of shots are averaged to get a power factor.
  23. I wish it was warmer!! I'm shooting a 40 cal in the Para and the OAL is 1.120. I just went out and shot six rounds and got an average of 930fps with 7.2 grains of #5. The high was 952 and the low was 871fps Just about what I was looking for but my spread was kinda wide. I'll have to work on that. Accurate says as long as I stay below 965fps I'm good. It just seemed like I was using a lot of powder and not getting the results I was looking for. I wanted to know if that load. was about right for #5. Not that it is going to be a very common load. I didn't want to be so close to max because of the chance the spread will take me over the max pressure. I had even weighed by hand ( with a scale) six rounds with a different lot of powder and still got a spread of 61. I was going to post a question about that too. What is the average spread, from high to low in a 40 cal, that people are getting?
  24. I just happen to have some #5 and was trying to work up some loads for IPSC in a Para P16. So far I've gone over the max powder load recommended in the Accurate book but still under whats in the Hornady book. I'm only getting an average of 873 fps with 7 grains. I'm going to bump it up to 7.2 here in a few minutes but wanted to know if any one else has used or tried Accurate # 5 with 180 gn MG bullets. I'm beginning to see why people don't use this much. If you have any luck with this powder let me know. I have 2 1/2 lbs and would like to use it up. www.uniongunrights.com
