titandriver Posted February 28, 2003 Share Posted February 28, 2003 HTRedneck --- I bought a 84M Varmint about two months ago in 22-250. It is a fantastic rifle for the money (under $900). Best groups to date have gone 3/10's, most loads I've tried will hit a least a half or less. It shoots so well that I sold my M70 Coyote. I use Leupold base & mounts for mine --- worked great! TRG65 Posted March 1, 2003 Author Share Posted March 1, 2003 I was trying to determine what OAL I could load to yesterday with my stoney point gauge and was getting OAL's for seating to the lands of about 2.900. Now here's the kicker, the magazine will only allow loading to 2.780. If the rounds are any longer the noses will be buggered up. This was calculated using 150 gr NBTs. What OAL is most factory ammo loaded too? I've never bought a box for either of my .308's. SAAMI spec for the max is 2.810 so I would have thought the magazine should have allowed a max SAAMI spec round to be fed. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
