mike booth
I'm a retired LEO, from PA, living in Florida now, employed in close protection. Various factors have made a S&W 386PD my choice for daily carry. I want to swap out the factory sights with Meprolight sights. Any tips on getting out the pin from the front sight? Will the rear sight blades detach if I back out the windage screw far enough? Any pitfalls to avoid? Thanks
Gun Phan
Use a small nail (picture hanger nail) to punch out the pin. You have to break the screw holding the rear sight in order to switch out the rear sight blade. Turn the adjustment screw clockwise until you hear the screw snap. Brownells.com has replacement screws and tool to install the new rear sight blade.
mike booth
Thanks. I was figuring on using a small wire nail to tap out the pin, but I had this feeling there was a hidden trap somewhere. I would never have guessed it was the windage screw. You probably just saved me from a heart attack.
