Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I need an inside the waist band holster for a S&W 386PD. A pancake holster is out. The holster has to stay open so the gun can be returned one handed, without looking. That means the retention system has to stay clear of the opening too.
  2. I've been carrying my 386PD for about a month and a half. It is perfect, under the circumstances. We wear a "soft uniform" at work, khaki slacks and a polo shirt, concealed carry. I think of it as a pocket pistol on steroids.
  3. Can you say "learning curve"? LOL. I made the swap and learned what a plunger spring and plunger are, after Brownell's helped me with names, part numbers and a schematic. I should sight in Friday. If I like this gun, I might add a second one to my kit. Thanks for the help.
  4. Thanks Roger, No special tools needed? I ordered the nut and screw, extras too, Murphy's law being what it is.
  5. I'm switching the factory sight blades on my S&W to night sights. I understand I have to break the screw to get it out because the nut is pinned. Does that mean the nut with the broken screw end will remain? How do I get the nut out? How do I replace the screw and nut? Do I have to replace the nut? Do I need a special tool? I kind of have to do this myself on my days off. I need the gun for work, turn around time is too long for a smith.
  6. Thanks. I was figuring on using a small wire nail to tap out the pin, but I had this feeling there was a hidden trap somewhere. I would never have guessed it was the windage screw. You probably just saved me from a heart attack.
  7. I'm a retired LEO, from PA, living in Florida now, employed in close protection. Various factors have made a S&W 386PD my choice for daily carry. I want to swap out the factory sights with Meprolight sights. Any tips on getting out the pin from the front sight? Will the rear sight blades detach if I back out the windage screw far enough? Any pitfalls to avoid? Thanks
