TruStreet
I bought a DAA Thumb Rest for my wife's new open gun. The screws that came with the rest are too short because they sit flushed with the top of the rest instead of fitting in the counter sunked hole. Are the screws 4-40 or 5-40? Alan Adamson
Manny, the screws you need are the ones that fit the frame... I'm fairly sure that Derek used 5-40's on those... I had to get some longer ones as well on my DAA... I probably have some, I'll see if I can't remember to bring you some, you'll need to fit them. (sand then short so that they go through the dust cover, but just flush to the inside. Also, you'll have to use 1 or 2 short ones as the DAA only needs 3 I think and the 2 that set under where the slide is for the thumbrest you use the regular screws for the mount, not the long ones... I can't remember as I don't shoot a thumb rest any more... found It was causing me to *drive* the gun too much with my weak hand. Alan
gng4life
Im pretty sure they are 4-40 and for that combo, they should be 3/8. Will check when i get home.
TruStreet
Thanks, I would ask Derek, but he is at the Nationals for the next 2 weeks! Edited September 20, 2011 by TruStreet
gng4life
Yeah, Adam is right, they are 5/40's. I used 1/2" screws and had to trim them down a little. I have some extra's if you want me to throw them in the mail...
TruStreet
If the head of the screws have 4 stars on the head, does that mean that they are 4-40?
Alan Adamson
If the head of the screws have 4 stars on the head, does that mean that they are 4-40? No those stars are nothing more than an hardness indicator. I'll see what I have and bring the tonight. Alan
