countryboy223
is a stock xdm-9 considered a production gun in uspa, and how does the minor/major power factor figure into the scoring? i have shot 2 outlaw three gun matches and am wanting to try a handgun competion to improve because the pistol is my weakest aspect. jtielke
Yes a stock XDm-9 is production legal and would be most competitive in there. Production division only recognizes minor power factor so you don't have to worry about that. With minor power factor you'll get 5 points for an A hit, 3 for a B or C and 1 for a D. Add up your points in the stage and divide by your time to get your score. Shooting pistol matches is a great way to get better at 3-Gun. Even beyond just learning pistol skills much of the way you break down stages, your movement, and a variety of other things will carry over to the rifle and shotgun. For now there are a lot more USPSA matches out there than there are 3-Gun. Edited July 21, 2011 by jtielke
