Poppa Bear
This really boils down to where is the prop located? 1.1.5.3 does not come into play because none of the classifiers require strong hand or weak hand while using props. All SH and WH courses are from Box or Line A, B or C engage targets. 1.1.5.4 allows the COF to have SH or WH for up to the last 6 shots. The last 6 shots could be handled in any number of ways but to keep it equitable you cannot specify SH or WH only and then use a barrier to force the shooter into an unfair position. A left handed shooter shooting weak hand only around the left side of the barricade is at a disadvantage compared to the right handed shooter shooting weak hand only around the left side. Therefore the prop must allow the shooter to equally access to the targets. A port is equitable so now it becomes a design function of COF. Is the port outside of the fault line? 10.2.1 violation for contact outside of the fault line, or a 10.2.8.3 if they use their other hand or arm to support themselves while shooting through the port. Is the port part of the fault line? No 10.2.1 violation but could still have a 10.2.8.3 violation if they use the other hand to hold onto any stationary prop to steady themselves. kamikaze1a
The general consensus seems to have been, for this cof, since the port was in a wall and the wall was the fault line and you could extend your shooting hand/arm through the port it was legal to use the edge of the port as a rest. On the other hand, if he had rested his shooting hand/arm on a prop beyond the port, it would have been a procedural. Further, using his non-shooting hand to stabilize against any prop would also have been a procedural. That is IF I understood the explanations posted...
