t_telecom
As a fairly new reloader I'm still having issues when trying to deprime cases. I just get started and then one isn't pushed out by the pin? I looked on the Dillon website FAQ's and they said to clean the pin so did that and about every 10 or 15 case's it does it again. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Should I switch to another type of die? Oh, I'm using all Dillon dies and loading 40 Cal.
Sarge
There is a thread around here somewhere. I'll look for it later. Try beveling the tip of the pin. Take it out of the die completely and sand the tip to an angle. This will keep the primers from sticking to the pin.

t_telecom
Thanks, I will file an angle on it as you have suggested and go from there. I have had my kids just depriming them for me in advance. So if this fixes the problem they will lose there job.
t_telecom
I filed an angle on my decapping pins and it works like a charm. Thanks again for the info.
sublime195
I was wondering what was going on. I am using dillon dies and cci primers. Will have to give this a try. FWIW, this will happen on three different kinds of brass for me. Thanks for the info.
JD Trampas
Glad you got it fixed, have never had any trouble with my 550 in 5 years of re-loading, and I have never cleaned the decapping pin. All for now JD Trampas
Kevin Holman
So you are saying the primer is bring completely pushed out - then because the primer is stuck to the pin - it reinserts the primer into the pocket?
gohuskers
So you are saying the primer is bring completely pushed out - then because the primer is stuck to the pin - it reinserts the primer into the pocket? Precisely. It actually springs back with the decapping pin back into the pocket.
