GlockSpeed31
I had someone give me a bunch of music downloads, but they will not play for me. They are in a cache file extention. Anyone know of a converter program that I can use for these? They came from a very trusted person that did play for them, but for some reason will not play on my system. -JQ-
How did you download them? Where did you download them to on your drive? .cache is usually just a pointer file Edited March 4, 2011 by -JQ-
The_Vigilante
You might try renaming the file extension to .mp3 and see if it lets you play them. Do the individual songs also have the .cache extension or just the folder in which they are located?
GlockSpeed31
The files were copied onto a flash drive and then into a new folder in my music main folder. All files have the .cache extention and I have tried to just rename and even change the extention to .mp3 with no luck.
The_Vigilante
Do you recall the original file extension prior to copying them onto a flash drive?
GlockSpeed31
No, they were from a friend who shipped overseas and isn't with us anymore. Not sure what happened to his computer afterwards. I have had the files for a while and just remembed I still had them.
The_Vigilante
Do you know where your friend downloaded the music by chance?
GlockSpeed31
No sure don't. Not sure if downloaded from internet or copied from cd.
The_Vigilante
What you can try is renaming the files with other types of popular audio file extensions to see if they will work. Sorry I can't be of any more help. If it was obtained from the Internet it would be important to know the original file format.
