Kyle O
Hey guys, the gas tube pin (the ONLY freakin part that I didn't put in this upper myself ) fell out at the Texas 2gun this weekend, and the gas tube rotated 90 degrees, and turned my Limited AR15 into a single shot. This silly little pin cost me a very good finish at this match. So, I'm changing out the gas block to an adjustable while I've got it apart, but I WANT TO MAKE SURE that I put the gas tube in correctly! Please share your knowledge, my search-fu came up weak this time. thanks, Kyle
GorillaTactical
the couple I've done were just a simple punch out punch in...I've never heard of a different way to do it??? My barrel nut came loose during that match though (which was factory installed)... EDIT: @ 24:00 of this video, there seems to be like a pretty good clip of someone installing one Edited February 25, 2011 by GorillaTactical
GentlemanJim
Vice the gas block insert gas tube, and PERFECTLY align the pin holes...use the correct pin punch to do this Using a starter punch, drive the pin until punch bottoms out Finish driving the pin with the pin punch Jim
GentlemanJim
Added note A misaligned gas block, lets the gas tube get battered by the carrier key This will wear the tube, or it can shear the gas tube pin Jim
