JMIS
I just added the Nordic Plus One tube to my SLP. Instructions read - a good place to start on the free length of the spring is 10 - 16 inches longer than the entire mag assembly. After cutting about 5in off the new spring I still have a good ammount of extra spring. I just loaded 9 rds in the tube to try it and they loaded fine. I have yet range test it. Any thoughts? I figured I leave it long and nip it off if I have to.
moose76
The conventional wisdom is to leave 12" of spring past the end of the tube.
fastarget
who sells extensions with proper springs for the SLP?
moose76
Nordic extensions come with a verrryyyy long spring that you then cut to the appropriate length.
biga9999
I have about 16" sticking out of mine. Works fine, still easy to load. Will leave it that way unless something starts acting up. I can always cut again, don't want to buy again.
GorillaTactical
I run the stock SLP spring with my +1 nordic extension. I've used it for about a month now without failure. In my testing of spring length reliability, the most likely round to fail was the last round to feed from the tube...if you want to test if your spring has enough tension to reliably feed, put 1 in the chamber 1 in the tube and fire the weapon. If you can consistently get the last round to enter the chamber, then you should be good. Edited March 2, 2011 by GorillaTactical
